How do I load and use my Caxton Red card?

The Red account currency card works just like a regular Caxton Card. You can load money onto the card online or by using the Caxton mobile app from a personal UK debit card in the primary cardholder's name and registered at their address. The currency must be one of Caxton’s pre-loadable currencies listed below. Once loaded, funds will normally be available within minutes.

How do I send or receive money with my Caxton Red account?

You can send and receive money with any other Red account member using the mobile app. It’s as simple as scanning the QR code of the person you want to send money to, inputting the amount, and the money instantly moves from the sender’s card balance to the receiver.

How do I split a bill?

You can split a bill evenly between 2 or more of your Red account holder friends using the Caxton app. Use the split bill function in the app to enter the total amount to pay and the number of people. The app will calculate the amount that each other account holder owes you and the payment will be completed when they scan the QR code provided using their Caxton app.

Is there a maximum amount that I can send or receive?

No more than an equivalent of GBP 1000 can be sent in a single payment.

A total of GBP 5000 or equivalent can be sent during a 7-day period by one Red user. 

There are no restrictions on the amount that can be received. Available in app soon.

How do I get reward points?

Caxton will reward you for using your Red card in the UK. For every £1 spent on purchases you can earn 1 point on your Caxton Red account. Reward points can be accumulated on the first £1000 of UK spend per year. UK spend does not include withdrawing cash from ATMs.

What are my reward points worth?

Your points can be exchanged for one of the currencies available to load on your Caxton Red card. Every 100 points is worth £1 of currency.

When will my reward points be added to my balance?

On a weekly basis, the points for the previous 7 days spend will be added to your balance. Points already on the balance can be exchanged into currency at any time.

How do I manage my reward points?

When logging onto your account select ‘My Points’ where you will be able to view your balance.

How do I refer a friend?

Invite others to join Caxton Red and earn cashback on both your cards. You’ll find your individual referral code by logging into your account on the app or web and selecting ‘Refer a Friend’. Either invite friends direct from your account by entering their email address or share your unique referral code with them. Your friend just needs to use this code when they apply for a Red account.

How much do I receive for a referral?

Both you and your friend will each receive a £10 reward.

When do I receive my reward?

You and your friend will receive the £10 reward 14 days after your friend successfully applies for a Caxton Red account. Before this the reward will show as pending under ‘Refer a Friend’.

How many people can I refer?

Refer a friend is limited to 50 referrals per Red member. However, if you are looking to refer more friends, please contact us on 0333 123 1812 regarding our partnership program.

Can I see a list of previous referrals?

Yes, log into your account to view a referral’s list. Here you will be able to view the names of those who have used your referral code, the status of the referral and whether the reward has been applied to your account.

What does purchase protection cover me for?

Purchase protection will cover you for any items purchased using your Caxton Red card that is stolen or damaged within the first 90 days from the purchase date.

How much am I covered for?

You can claim up to the following amounts:

  • £1500 per claim
  • £3000 per incident
  • £5000 per cardholder per annum
  • The excess on each claim is £50
What does event cancellation cover me for?

If you purchase event tickets over £30 through recognised ticket agents using your Caxton Red card, you can claim up to £100 per ticket if you are unable to attend due to injury, sickness or death, or if the event is cancelled.

How do I make a claim for either Purchase Protection or Event Cancellation?

If you need to make a claim, call +44 (0) 28 9037 1441 during office hours of 09:00 to 17:00hrs and quote your registered Caxton email address. Outside normal working hours, email [email protected] and request a claim form or call back during office hours.  It’s always best to first check the policy wording and the relevant section(s), terms, conditions and exclusions, to ensure that what you are intending to claim for is covered.  Full terms and conditions are provided below.

How do I get a free additional card?

You can order a free secondary card once you've logged into your account on the web. Under ‘My Currency Cards’ you will see a button for Secondary Cards. Once you have ordered it, the card will be sent to the address registered on the account and arrive in the post within 5 days.

What are the travel extras and how can I access them?

You can access a whole host of travel extras including airport lounges, resort transfers, discounted airport parking, car hire and hotels. You’ll find these on your Caxton mobile app as ‘Red Member Extras’ under the ‘More’ tab.  

What is the Buy Back Guarantee?

We’ll buy back your unused currency at the same rate you bought it for on loads over £300. That way, if the exchange rate moves against you, you won't lose out. As a Caxton Red member we’re giving this to you at no extra cost, but Terms and Conditions do apply. Currently only available when loading your card online.

Is it free to use for both cash withdrawals and general spending?

Yes, Caxton will not charge anything for using your Red card for payments in hotels, restaurants, shops and pretty much anywhere you spend. We also don’t charge for ATM withdrawals, but some ATM provides may impose their own fee. See our top tips for using your card sensibly.

How do I order cash?

You can order over 50 currencies delivered straight to your door, Monday to Friday, and free of charge for amounts over £750. Simply log into your account and choose the “Cash Delivery” option. Saturday delivery is available at £1.50.

Are there any charges for making next day payments?

There’s a £5 fee per overseas payment made and a maximum payment limit of £5,000 per day.

How do I opt out of auto renewal or cancel my membership?

If you need to cancel your Caxton Red membership, please contact one of our advisors who can assist you on 0333 123 1812. As a result of cancelling, you may need to pay a sum equal to the remainder of the membership.
