Last week, Caxton published our research into how prices were soaring in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup final. With England's success at the weekend and the confirmation that they have reached the final, alongside South Africa, prices have risen again and some fans are desperately trying to nab a ticket for the final on 2nd November.

Rugby World Cup Final on a tight budget

Over the past few weeks, we've been tracking the trajectory of the prices for World Cup tickets, flights and accommodation in Tokyo.

We’ve done the hard work for you and created a price guide, which shows how much it would be to go to the Rugby World Cup final this weekend, with prices almost doubling from last week:

Cost on 17th October

Cost on 23rd October

Cost on 28th October

London Heathrow via Shanghai airlines with change at Shanghai – 19.5 hours out at 21 hours back

London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita on Egypt Airlines. 19.5 hrs there and 24 hours back.

Category C via viagogo (Cheapest option)

Total Cost

£1580 (up 25%)

  £2419 (up 53%)

Unsurprisingly, England's win has seen flight and ticket prices soar. A spokesperson for BA states: "Since England’s amazing win, we’ve seen a 184% surge in the number of people looking at flights to Tokyo on"

Our research shows that had people risked buying a ticket two weeks ago (with the anxiety that England may have not made the final) they would have saved a whopping £1300.
